Joana de Carvalho is a Portuguese artist living in Brussels, Belgium.
She is currently studying ceramics at the Constantin Meunier Art Academy in Etterbeek (Brussels, Belgium).
Her studio is located in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal, a city with a famous ceramic tradition.
The artworks are handpainted on XVII century style Portuguese azulejos (tiles), using the majolica technique.
Joana illustrates the life of indigenous Brazilian Amazonian tribes to raise awareness of the diverse challenges affecting those communities such as deforestation, climate change and human intervention.
